“Ô chute du jour !” by Christian Halna du
“Ô chute du jour !” is an acrylic and collage composition on Japanese shikishi board by Christian Halna du Fretay. Blending painted gestures with collage fragments, the artist constructs a fractured horizon where shadowed trees, forest textures, and deep twilight blues converge. The vertical rhythm of tree trunks meets layered color fields, evoking both landscape and memory.
This work highlights Halna du Fretay’s practice of figurative abstraction through carefully built planes and textured depth. The golden edge of the shikishi board subtly frames the image, enhancing the warm lower tones while reinforcing the structural balance.
Part of the Shikishi Art Project by Art San Gallery, this painting explores how traditional Japanese formats can support innovative, contemporary expression.
