About Art San Gallery

Art San Gallery began in France, representing artists from Brittany. Founded in 2023, the gallery was born with a quiet intention: to present original artworks that speak through material, form, and process. From the beginning, the name Art San (アートさん) carried a hint of where we were headed. In Japanese, san (さん) is a gesture of respect — a small, attentive word that mirrors the care we bring to curation.

In 2025, that orientation became reality. The gallery established a physical space in Gujo Hachiman, Japan — a riverside town known for its quiet beauty and craftsmanship. From this new base, Art San continues to present original works by Japanese and international artists, with a focus on one-of-a-kind pieces: shikishi boards, sculpture, paintings, and mixed-media works.

Shikishi Art Exhibition: Works by French Artists

Art San Gallery presents a special exhibition featuring artworks created on traditional Japanese shikishi boards by French artists. On view from May 1 to May 25, 2025, this show bridges cultures through unique, small-format works that explore the expressive potential of shikishi as a contemporary medium.
