Studio Experiment
Ships from Japan.
This work is part of a series of studio experiments investigating color, surface, and material response on traditional Japanese shikishi.
Built through successive layers of gouache tempera, the surface is then resolved with final applications of oil, allowing pigment density, absorption, and edge control to be tested within a contained format.
Developed as part of the Shikishi Art Project, the piece reflects an ongoing investigation into shikishi as a painting support, made on Gasen dōsa paper.
Studio work by the founder of Art San Gallery.
