The work depicts a single shell rendered in thick, controlled oil strokes. Muted pinks, deep browns, and dark linear accents define its curved structure against a pale ground. The composition is direct and centered, transforming a natural object into a compact sculptural presence.
Painted on a rigid shikishi support with a subtle gold edge, the small format intensifies focus and materiality. This piece belongs to Coueffic’s exploration of oil painting on Japanese shikishi art boards, where traditional format meets contemporary handling of volume and surface.
