Four small, brightly painted fish drift diagonally across a pale, milky sea inside a golden sardine tin. Each fish carries its own band of colour—yellow, orange, turquoise, blue—creating a gentle rhythm from top to bottom. A vertical metal key rests on a wooden panel at the right, reminding us of the object’s everyday origin while the resin surface turns it into a quiet, luminous seascape.
Soft Tide Quartet captures one of Ortaire de Coupigny’s favourite contrasts: the delicacy of marine life staged inside a simple food can, suspended in time yet full of movement.
