Tokonoma I - Tadasuke Jinno

For the first edition of Tokonoma, the gallery presents a work by Tadasuke Jinno, a Japanese artist whose practice was shaped in part by his years in New York.
The work presented in Tokonoma I emerged from a dialogue between the artist and the gallery, and was chosen for its capacity to engage the vertical discipline of the alcove.
In the subdued light of the tokonoma, its layered surface unfolds gradually, revealing variations of depth and tone. Within the alcove, architecture, surface, and light enter into resonance with the measured gesture of the painting.
Inquiries from collectors, curators, and institutions are welcome.
