In The Lighthouse Keeper, Ortaire de Coupigny places two fish within an opened tin can, both facing the same direction. The larger fish’s dark grey and pale pink surface is flecked with gold, while its smaller companion brings deeper pink tones and iridescent reflections. Their staggered positions suggest a shared movement, held still within the narrow container. The title leaves their relationship open: companions, passing acquaintances, or two travellers briefly sharing the same space.
An original, one-of-a-kind assemblage.
