Blue Lagoon Sardines
Blue Lagoon Sardines is an original sardine tin artwork by Ortaire de Coupigny, part of his distinctive series of sculptural assemblages created inside metal tins.
In this work, four fish are arranged within a turquoise blue background, their bodies animated by dark tones, green highlights, violet accents, and a striking diagonal red form. The polished edge of the tin frames the composition like a small underwater stage, while the resin surface gives the impression of depth and suspension.
Ortaire de Coupigny transforms the ordinary sardine can into a compact sculptural object, combining painting, relief, pigment, wax, and epoxy. The result is both playful and refined: a one-of-a-kind artwork where humor, craftsmanship, and material presence meet.
