This shikishi painting by a regional Japanese artist, signed and sealed, dates from the late Shōwa to early Heisei period.
 
Depicting poppies rendered with light watercolor pigments, the work reflects a long-standing Japanese approach to floral painting on shikishi—valuing restraint, seasonal sensitivity, and the expressive use of empty space. The composition is built from a limited number of confident brushstrokes, allowing pigment, water, and paper to remain visibly active.
