City Summer View is a vivid original oil painting by French artist Sébastien Coueffic, created on a traditional Japanese shikishi board. Known for his expressive use of color and architectural themes, Coueffic captures the clean lines and bright reflections of a summer day in the city. The painting blends minimalist structure with lyrical color harmonies, offering a refined vision of urban architecture.
Executed in rich oil paint, the artwork features a bold contrast of soft whites and saturated blues, punctuated by striking red accents. The textured brushwork and simplified composition evoke influences from modernist painters like Charles Sheeler and the vibrant palettes of David Hockney, while also resonating with the decorative clarity of the Nabis.
This small-format work (24 x 27 cm) is painted on shikishi, a high-quality Japanese art board traditionally used for calligraphy and painting. The rigid gold-edged support enhances both the graphic precision and poetic balance of the piece. Part of Coueffic’s ongoing Architecture series, this artwork transforms the everyday into a radiant study of form, color, and light.
Perfect for collectors seeking affordable original art, urban landscape paintings, or contemporary oil paintings on shikishi, City Summer View is an elegant addition to any space.
