In Time Layers S7010, Hiroyuki Suzuki builds up successive layers of graphite pencil on canvas, creating a dense, finely textured surface. It moves from charcoal black to an almost silvery sheen as light catches its relief. Six small golden points introduce a measured rhythm, giving the surface a sense of depth and volume.
The title echoes the making of the work: the surface records accumulated gestures, pressure and time. At this intimate scale, the patient repetition gives the canvas a concentrated presence.
