In Tropical Waters, Ortaire de Coupigny presents four painted fish suspended in a sardine can. Their sculpted forms, modeled in wax, are encased in a translucent layer of resin that evokes the softness and depth of the sea.
On one side, a wooden engraving of a swordfish introduces a subtle visual contrast and adds a marine narrative. Blending humor, detail, and illusion, this piece captures Coupigny's signature transformation of ordinary materials into captivating miniature tableaux.
