In this unique mixed-media piece by Ortaire de Coupigny, a single fish sculpted in wax and meticulously painted rests within a gold metal tin, its colours shifting between deep blue, violet, and bright orange accents. The fish’s textured surface is sealed beneath a layer of translucent resin, creating a soft aquatic depth and giving the impression of a suspended moment underwater. The wooden engraved panel, integrated into the tin’s original mechanism, anchors the work with a handcrafted detail characteristic of the artist’s practice.
A one-of-a-kind artwork blending sculpture, painting, and assemblage with Ortaire de Coupigny’s signature marine imagination.
