Star – Ayatori Shikishi Artwork

Star is an original artwork by South Korean artist Kwon YoungJin, created with watercolor, acryl gouache, and gesso on a Japanese shikishi board. Two softly rendered hands emerge from a dark background, holding a red string in the shape of a star.
 
The composition recalls ayatori, the traditional string-figure game of childhood, where forms appear through tension, movement, and balance between the hands. Here, the game becomes a quiet meditation on memory, connection, and fragile interdependence.
