In Espadon’s Splash, Ortaire de Coupigny brings together playfulness and precision within the confines of a sardine tin. Three painted fish, suspended in translucent resin, appear to drift upward under the watchful eye of an engraved swordfish on the wooden lid. The juxtaposition between the small, brightly colored fish and the etched espadon suggests a dynamic encounter — fleeting, lighthearted, and full of motion. With its layers of color and depth, the work transforms an ordinary container into a miniature stage where marine life seems to leap beyond its boundaries.
