Small Dodo (Leather Sculpture)
Sculpture of a small dodo's bird by Haruka Miyamoto.
With a plump, round body and sturdy legs, the dodo had a peculiar, almost comical appearance, which has contributed to its legendary status in pop culture.
This work continues Miyamoto’s mission to resurrect the irretrievable. The dodo, a species driven to extinction in the 17th century by colonization and invasive species, has long symbolized irreversible disappearance. Miyamoto’s dodo is neither a naturalistic reconstruction nor a cartoonish relic—it is a rebirth in material form, where craft becomes commemoration.
This adorable small dodo is signed by the artist.
